Raspberries

Today the president noted that "tax relief must be joined with fiscal discipline. Americans are making hard choices in their budgets, and we've got to tighten our belts in Washington as well." (emphasis added)

It makes me want to blow a huge raspberry at him. I feel like that is what he and the rest of our communist government are doing to us.

We are no longer the United States of America. Our new name is the Socialist Union of American States. I thought about the Union of Socialist States of America, but some states like Texas or Utah might secede over that. And we're better off without losing them.

$10.5 trillion commited to fixing our economy
$2.5 trillion already invested.

America hasn't been a fully capitalist country since the 1920's. Because of the depression, it was transformed into welfare capitalism, which was actually better than the alternatives in the world at the time (totalitarian communism, military dictatorships, and fascism). Since then, the official economic system has been capitalism/socialist. We all benefit, or will benefit, (one way or another) from the socialist changes that have been braught about over the past 80 years.
In studying history, i have seen what both pure capitalism and pure socialism can do, and at this point i would say that it is preferable to maintain equilibrium between the two.
During large economic downturns, such as the one that is taking place, it is an understandable reaction to increase socialist changes--in order to maintain the health of the people. Whether or not it works, is up to debate. And whether or not it will work, only history will decide.

It's a nice disguise-social programs in the time of recession, but are they successful? Only in giving more control to the government.

A government social program is never successful. Our government was created to maximize individual liberty, that's the goal. Every social program strips us of freedom and is therefore a failure of our government.

A nice bi-product of freedom is prosperity, but prosperity IS NOT the governments business.

i worry that we we all be too pacified by our charming president that things will start---oh wait, they already have....to happen that we know nothing about or that are sugar-coated making the American public think that things aren't quite what they seem......Hitler was a pro at this. kind of scary to me
does A.C.O.R.N. mean anything to anyone? (in relation to Obama)
